You Should not worry in case Nakshatra is not Matching between the Boy and Girl. Star Matching is only a Small part of the entire Horoscope Matching Process. The individual Horoscope Should be matched properly. If both the individual chart are good for Married Life, Childbirth, financial prosperity and Health, Marriage can be performed even if Nakshatra Not Matching.
It is only 10 to 15 % of the entire horoscope matching process. If we rely only on the Birth Star Matching, we will make big mistake. We have to check some other factors.

As matrimonial alliances have life-long impact, great care and caution must be exercised in the examination of the horoscopes. If all safeguards and precautions are taken care of, the possibility of matrimonial disharmony or discordance or marital failures will reduce Significantly.
Horoscope matching is not only a difficult task for an astrologer but also an important one.
It’s obvious that it is not very difficult to match horoscopes when all kinds of agreements are present in the male and female horoscopes. But sometimes it happens that one could be present while another is absent. So obviously, it is very difficult to have all the porutham or agreements present in two horoscopes for concluding an alliance.
In such situations, You have to Check Individual Horoscope and Check what the Individual Horoscope Promises.
First compatibility test is the of Varna Kuta.
During Vedic period the society was divided into four classes according to the type of work performed by them. Brahmin was that section of society which spreaded education. They were teachers and very learned persons. The next class was that of Kshatriyas. That was the fighting class engaged in ruling and defending the country. The third class was that of the persons engaged in trade and commerce and the last class was that of the persons engaged in the service of all the three classes.
The classification was based on the nature of work done. They were Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaisha and Sudra in the descending order of status. The girl of a lower class could marry a boy of her own or higher class.
In Astrology, the caste is determined from the Rashi or Moon Sign i.e. zodiac sign occupied by Moon at the time birth. The planets are also divided on the basis of castes.
Each category is said to be governed by a particular set of characteristics that suggest the person’s potential and inherent skills. This also includes the personal ego and the mental attitude of the partners. It is also indicative of Spiritual Development of the person.
The classification is as under:
1. Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer (Brahmins)- The people belonging to this Varna do not prefer physical labor. They are respected for the mental qualities and usually prefer to do intellectual work .
2. Leo, Sagittarius and Aries (Khastriyas)- They are powerful people with a leadership qualities. They can have an aggressive and commanding attitude. People with this Varna are generally Egoistic.
3. Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn (Vaishyas)- People Belonging to this Varna are expert in Trade and Commerce. They are very adaptable and compromising. The are very Practical and Well organised.
4. Gemini, Libra and Aquarius (Sudra)- People Belonging to this Category have inherent sense of Responsibility.
The Varna Kuta indicate the behavior of the Bride and groom. If both Bride and groom has Similarity in their behavior and character, it will bring Marital peace. A girl belonging to a higher grade of spiritual development should not be matched to a boy of lesser development. The vice-versa both belonging to the same grade or degree is allowed. The unit of agreement is 1.
|Varna Koota Mathcing Table|
|Varna of Girl||Varna of Boy|
In Present Day context, this Kuta has very Low Importance. Today, Inter caste Marriage is Very common Now. So Varna Kuta does not have Relevance like before.
The word Vasya means Having control over Another Person. Vasya Kuta indicates charms and attraction.
Marriage is happy if there is mutual charm and attraction between the partners. Here charm and attraction does not mean physical beauty. Good Looks form no attraction if one of the partners is aggressive or anti social. For the partners to be happy, they have to be of the same type. How so ever beautiful and charming a girl may be, she cannot be good desirable wife for a man who has the nature of a beast.
We have discussed about combination for a Loving husband or Wife in our Spouse Astrology Article. You can read it to know what kind of Spouse You will get.
Below is the Table which indicates Vasya Rashi of each Rashi.
If the Janma Rashi of the Girl is the Vasya Rashi of the Boy, it is considered that the Husband will have a Strong influence on the wife.
In the earlier time, Vasya Kuta was used to know whether a husband will have influence on his wife or not. In the ancient days, Women were expected to follow the rules set by the Men. But at present day, this is not Relevant any more. Rather the controlling tendency will create problem in Marriage.
But this Can be used to determine the Mutual Attracting and Bonding. So Vasya Kuta should not be ignored completely.
The zodiacal signs have been divided in 5 categories. The categories awarded to the Rashi based on their physical appearance in the zodic. Aries and Taurus, for instance, appear to be like Ram and Bull respectively. They are four footed animals. This classification is chatushpada or the quadrupeds. Some signs have the appearance like a human being. They have been named as Manava or human signs.
The five classifications of the signs and their group are as under.
1. Chatushpada or Quadruped : – Aries, Taurus, 2nd half of Sagittarius and 1st half of Capricorn
2. Dwipada (Manushya or Human) :- Gemini, Virgo, Libra, 1st half of Sagittarius and Aquarius
3. Jalachar Rasi :- Cancer, 2nd half of Capricorn and Pisces
4. Banachar Rasi (Roaming in Forest) :- Leo
5. Keet Rasi :- Scorpio
The signs grouped above have their own attributes. They are friends, enemies, and Neutral.
Humans do not go well with the 4th and 5th group. They may just try avoid the person governed by the 3rd group and may have some adjustments with the first two groups.
Each category has some qualities which may be inimical, favorable or adjustable etc.
Tara is a synonym for constellation. As stated earlier the natives are identified by either zodiac signs or the constellation occupied by Moon at the time of the birth.
There are 27 constellations in the zodiac and each one of them is ruled by one of the planets. Each planet rules over three constellations.
Tara Koota clearly indicates the mental compatibility between Bride and the groom. Count the number of Birth Nakshatra of bride from the Birth Nakshatra of Groom and divide the result by 9. If the remainder is 3, 5 or 7 then it is inauspicious and score will be 0, otherwise beneficial and score will be one and a half.
Now, count the Birth Nakshatra of groom from the Birth Nakshatra of bride and divide the result by 9. lf the remainder is 3, 5 or 7 then it is inauspicious and the score will be 0, otherwise beneficial and score will be one and a half. If both are benefic then score is 3.
If anyone is benefic and the other is malefic then score is one and a half and if both are malefic then score will be 0.
Yoni means sex and Yoni Kuta is implies sexual compatibility.
The Nakshatra are divided into Male and Female Energy. Male is more active and dynamic one whereas Female is a Passive one. Some people also include another class other than Male and female which is -Eunuch.
Below is the Table for the Male and Female Nakshatra.
If both the couples belong to the male constellation, there are likely to be frequent quarrels and want of agreement in sex matters.
So the best way is to match a male belonging to a male Star with a female Star. This will ensure marital bliss. So the Yoni kuta takes into account the sexual aspects of marriage and indicates degree of sex-compatibility.
In Married Life Sexual compatibility is Very important. This reveals the importance of Yoni kuta in Star Matching.
A marriage between the constellations indicating same class of yoni of Male and Female will bring happiness, perfect harmony and progeny.
If the male and the female happen to be born in friendly yonis, but both represent female constellations, there will be moderate happiness and agreement.
If the couple belong to both male constellations there will be constant quarrels and unhappiness.
If a marriage is proposed between constellations indicating unfriendly Yonis, it is better to avoid the marriage.
Rasaydhipa Porutam or Graha Maitri Koota in Kundli Matching
This is the most important kuta or agreement as it determines the physical disposition of the couple, The mental qualities of the partners and their affection for each other. These are of vital importance for a happy married life. This must be tested before marriage.
In considering graha maitri Koota in Kundli Matching, the friendship or compatibility of the lords of the Janma Rasi is important.
It may be said here that the human beings are governed by planets. The planets have their own natural affinities. The sign, in which the Moon happens to be posited at the time of birth, and its lord denote the nature of the native. Moon represents your mind. Mental disposition and the nature of the native depend on the sign in which the Moon is posited and Lord of the Moon Sign.
When the lords of the Janma Rashi (Moon Sign) of the bride and bridegroom are friends, the Rasi kuta is said to have attained its full strength. When one is a friend and the other is neutral, it is Moderate. When both are neutral, Rasi kuta is very ordinary. when both are enemies Rasi kuta does not exist.
This seems to have an important bearing on the temperament and character of the couple concerned. This is essential for a satisfactory marriage union.
Stars are classified into three groups as Dev Gana, Manushya Gana and Rakshasa Gana. A Deva can marry a Deva, a Manushya Gana can marry a Manushya Gana and a Rakshasa Gan can marry a Rakshasa Gana. Dev Gana Boy can Marry a Manushya Gana Girl. Some people consider Rakshas Gana Boy can Marry a Manushya Gana Girl. This is a Medium Match.
As per the classical Books of Astrology, Manushya Gana Girl Should not Marry a Rakshas Gana Girl and Dev Gana Boy should not marry a Rakshas Gana Girl. If marriage is performed between prohibited ganas, there will be quarrels and disharmony. The couple Will always look for an opportunity for separation or divorce.
Dev Gana is indicative of divine qualities Such as Goodness of character, charitable Nature etc. Manusya Gana is the mix of both good and Bad. Rakshas Gana is all about dominance, Violance and Self will.
Below is the List of Stars indicating different Gana.
Deva Gana Nakshatras- Ashwini, Mrigasira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Sravana, Revati
Manushya gana Nakshatras- Bharani, Rohini, Adra, Purva Falguni, Uttar Phalguni, Uttarashada, Poorva Bhadra, Uttar Bhadra.
Rakshasa Gana Nakshatras – Krittika, Ashlesha, Magha, Chitra,Vishakha, Jyestha, Moola, Dhanistha, Shatabhisha.
People are often afraid with a girl of Rakshasa Gana. They even think to the extent that, if a marriage is solemnized between Manshya Gana boy and Rakshasa Gana girl, the boy will die. But it is completely a misconception.
It is also known as Bhakut dosha or Rashi Kuta.
So far we have taken into consideration either the Rashi or the constellations, But here we take both into consideration.
For marriage, a male born in the 7th, 10th, 11th or 8th, 9th and 12th signs from Janma Rashi of the girl is considered auspicious. If both male and female are born in one and the same Rashi but have different stars, the alliance is considered auspicious. The male born in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Rashi from that of the female should not enter into wedlock.
Following situations may arise-
Same Rashi and same Nakshatra.
Same Rashi and same Nakshatra but the padas are different.
Same Rashi but different Nakshatra.
Same Nakshatra but different Rashi.
Same Rashi and same Nakshatra and the same pada of the partners is not desirable.
Rashis of the cuple should not be 2-12 to each other. Here 2-12 means adjacent rashis as Aries and Taurus.
If the Rashi of the couple are 3-11 from each other they are auspicious or helpful.
If the Rashi of the couple are 4-10 to each other they are helpful and beneficial.
If the Rashi of the couple are 5-9 to each other they indicate ill luck respect of children. Some masters believe that the following group of 5-9 Rashi can be accepted. The groups are Aries and Leo, Taurus and Virgo, Gemini and Libra, Cancer and Scorpio, Leo and Sagittarius, Libra and Aquarius, Scorpio and Pisces, Sagittarius and Aries.
The Logic for not considering 5-9 relation is not very clear. In Astrology, 5-9 Relationship is considered as at the Most Beneficial Relationship. So when Both the Rashi is in 5-9 Relationship, it Should be considered as good.
The Rashis of the couple should not be 6-8 to each other. They are most inauspicious to each other. But We may say that if the group is friendly it may be accepted.
If the Rashis of bride and groom are 7-7 to each other we get a very good combination.
Besides all the above agreements, there is another one named Nadi Porutam. This is given importance by astrologers at many places. This is considered to be the most significant kuta or agreement. In Sanskrit. Nadi has several meanings, but in astrology, it signifies pulse or nervous energy indicating the physiological and to a certain extent hereditary factors. It is also important for the Health factor of the Bride and Groom.
While the Bhakuta test was based on the rasis the couple, Nadi test is based on the Nakshatra of the couple. There is 3 classification of the constellations. It is Adya, Madhya and Antya. The group of the constellations falling under each category is given below.
Adya Nadi- Ashwini, Ardra, Punarvasu, Uttar Phalguni, Hasta, Jyeshtha, Moola, Shatabhisha, Purba Bhadrapada.
Madhya Nadi- Bharani, Mrigshira, Pushya, P.Phalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, P. Ashadha, Dhanishtha, Uttar Bhadrapada.
Antya Nadi- Krittika, Rohini, Aslesa, Megha, Swati, Vishakha, U. Ashadha, Shravan, Revati.
The rule is that the Nadi of the couple should not be the same. In other words No approval of marriage Should be given if both the partners have the same Nadi.
Apart from These 8 Kind of Kuta or Porutham, there are Some other Agreements also.
Ensures that the couple remains healthy and free from diseases and enjoy all comforts of life. Absence of this agreement may lead to difference of opinion on day to day matters leading to arguments and hence lack of support to each other.
Count the constellation of the boy from that of the girl and divide by 9. If the remainder is 2, 4, 6, 8, 0, it is good. In this case of Dina Kuta is present. If the Remainder is 1,3, 5 or 7 Dina Kuta is absent. The number of units of compatibility assigned to this kuta is 3 in case agreement is found.
The constellation of the boy counted from that of the girl should be the 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th, 22nd or 25th. Mahendra porutham will bring harmony and enhance longevity. The farther the birth Nakshatra of the boy is from the girl’s Nakshatra, the better it will be for their happiness.
This porutham indicates the strength or duration of married life and therefore it merits special attention. Rajju Porutham is an indicator of longevity of the marriage.
If the Nakshatra of the couple do not fall in the same Rajju, it is good.
Below is the Table for different Rajju as per different Nakshatra
|Pada (Foot)||Aswini, Aslesha , Makha, Jyeshta, Moola, Revathi|
|Ooru (Thigh)||Bharani, Pushya, Purvaphalguni, Anuradha, Purvashada, Uttarabhadrapada|
|Nabhi (Naval)||Krittika, Punarvasu, Uttaraphalguni, Visakha, Uttarashada, Purvabhadrapada|
|Kanta (Neck)||Rohini, Ardra, Hasta, Swathi, Sravana, Satabhisha|
|Siro (Head)||Mrigasirsha, Chitra, Dhanishta|
But if lords of Janma Rashi of the boy and that of the girl are one and the same planet or if they are mutual friends or if Janma Rashi of the boy and the girl are in mutual 7-7 position, Rajju Dosha, need not be considered.
Rajju is an important porutham in Nakshatra matching of the horoscopes.
Vedha Porutham means affliction. Certain stars are capable of affecting or afflicting certain other stars situated at a particular distance from them. For example, Aswani is said to cause Vedha to 18th star, i.e. Jyesta, from it, Bharani to the 16th star, i.e. Anuradha, and so on. No marriage should be performed between the boy and the girl who’s Janma Nakshatra has Vedha with Each other.
